Asbury Pre School

PURPOSE:

Asbury United Methodist Preschool offers a non-denominational Christian Education program for children three, four, and five years old. We feel children learn best (1) Through Play: children grow by directly interacting with the environment and their peers, (2) By Learning How to Learn: being creative and constructive is more important than the finished product, (3) By Succeeding: success leads to self-confidence and self-confident children approach learning as fun, and (4) By Making Choices: through self-directed activities our children become our future decision makers. Our program supports independent patterns for each child which is an integration of positive, moral, social, emotional, intellectual, and physical developmental stages. This support is developed around central themes. We incorporate the use of stories, films, music , drama, various crafts, field trips, special guests, and physical activities into our daily schedule. Our years of service to the community and our well-experienced staff provide a rich atmosphere of manipulative games and activities to help children understand their world and themselves.

LICENSE:

We are visited and licensed yearly by a member of the Iowa State Department of Human Services. We are inspected by a paid member of the Webster City Fire Department and must meet their rigid standards. Staff members are certified in Basic First Aid and CPR.

DAYS AND HOURS:

The program will operate on a nine month basis in accordance with the public school system, observing the same holidays, vacations, and snow days. The sessions operate from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All doors of the preschool will be locked until 8:55 in the morning. This allows our teachers the prep time they need to prepare for the day. We usually start at the end of August and run through the third week of May.

TEACHERS:

Staff members are qualified, experienced teachers with training in education techniques and who thoroughly enjoy working with young children. The teachers are eager, energetic, and take advantage of attending workshops and classes to update their teaching techniques.

CHILDREN:

Children are eligible if they are at least three years old on or before September 15. We do require that all children be potty trained before attending preschool.

TUITION:

Tuition is $65 per month. The tuition is due at the beginning of every month. Please make checks payable to Asbury Preschool. If you pay in cash, please put it in an envelope and clearly mark your child's name. This will eliminate any confusion in recording payments.

LATE AND EARLY FEES:

If your child is delivered to school 15 minutes prior to the start time, you will be charged a $5.00 fee. If you do not pick up your child within 15 minutes of dismissal, you will be charged $5.00 for each 10-minute interval. Remember, the before and after school are important times for our teachers to prepare.

ADMISSION POLICIES:

Now you have read about our school, it's goals and policies, and have decided to enroll your child. GREAT! Follow these steps:

  1. Fill out an application form, sign and date it. You may also send in the pick up permission form and the emergency treatment form ahead of time.
  2. Include a check, payable to Asbury Preschool, for $25.00 to cover the enrollment fee. This fee is used for supplies and therefore is not refundable. It is NOT a partial payment for September.
  3. Mail to Asbury Preschool, 723 Bank Street, Webster City, IA 50595

Also, an immunization card and physical form need to be filled out and SIGNED by your physician or public health official. These are due at the "Get Acquainted Tea" which is held in August. Your child cannot attend preschool without these forms. This is state law.
