Curtis is originally from Statesville, NC where he lived until moving away to Kentucky for his undergraduate studies.  Curtis received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy and Religion with a double minor in Archaeology and Ancient Hebrew from Berea College in 2000.  He then attended Duke University Divinity School in Durham, NC for the next four years, receiving his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree in 2004 with a concentration in liturgical studies and ancient languages.

Curtis’ first pastorate was in The Methodist Church of Great Britain.  During the years 2004-2005 he served a circuit of ten rural churches in Essex in and around the town of Manningtree, England.  Since returning to America, Curtis has served churches in Badin, Richfield, Salisbury, and Woodleaf before coming to Asbury Memorial UMC in the summer of 2012.  Curtis and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for thirteen years.  They have two young daughters, Cora (aged 10) and Lylah (aged 7).  In his spare time he enjoys hiking and woodworking.
