Big Changes Are Coming Our Way Soon!
Our church is in the midst of an exciting effort to update our building and grounds to allow for a new Memorial Garden, improved parking and handicapped access, new landscaping, and a host of other improvements inside the church building. This effort has been in the design and planning phases since 2013 and the long-awaited time that will see construction begin on our historic church property is almost upon us!
In order to accomplish the goals of “preparing the way” for future ministries here in this place, we need the financial support of everyone. A mailing was sent out to our membership in March of 2016 with a letter from the Capital Campaign Committee asking for donations to help us achieve these goals. If you did not receive this mailing, please let the church office know (828-253-0765) and we will be happy to see that you get one. Alternatively, you can download those documents (and a number of other helpful documents) here on this page by clicking on one of the links at the bottom of the page.
We encourage everyone to give as they are able and to be mindful that gifts to the capital campaign are “second-mile” gifts that are intended to be above and beyond your support of our annual budget. We are happy to accept gifts in various forms, however it will best suit your individual situation. You may consider giving your gift in the following way(s):
- A One-time Gift.
- A Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly, or Weekly Pledge (over the course of 3 years).
- A Gift of Stock or from an IRA (contact Bud Allison for details of how to do this).
- Other Gifts (contact Elaine Poovey if you would like to discuss other giving options).
Weekly updates as to our progress in reaching our goal of $300,000 will be included in the worship bulletin, monthly newsletter, and other publications of the church as they become available. There is still time to make your gift and to help “Prepare Ye the Way” for future ministries here at historic Asbury Memorial UMC! Thanks for your support of the ministries of the church!
